PY-10166 detects MUC1 in human, mouse and rat samples.
PY-10166 has been successfully used in Western blot and immunohistochemistry procedures. By Western blot, PY-10166 detects the ~ 70 kDa MUC1 fusioin protein.
The PY-10166 immunogen is a human MUC1 fusion protein corresponding to residues 1181-1226.
Figure 1 illustrates immunohistochemical staining of MUC1 in esophogeal cancer tissue using PY-10166.
Figure 2 shows Western blot detection of the ~ 70 kDa MUC1 fusioin protein using PY-10166. |
This antibody reacts with MUC1, a large transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on the ductal surface of normal glandular epithelia. The extracellular domain of MUC1 largely consists of a highly conserved, O-glycosylated 20 aminoacid tandem repeat which can occur 30-100 times per molecule depending on the length of the allele involved. In the vast majority of human carcinomas this protein is upregulated and poorly glycosylated and appears on the cell surface in a non-polarized fashion. The dominant epitope of this antibody is the 8-mer SAPDTRPA of the MUC1 tandem repeat as established with ìepitope fingerprinting. |
