PA1-959 detects VDAC3 in mouse, human, rat, rabbit and bovine samples.
PA1-959 has been used successfully in Western blot, ELISA, and immunohistochemistry (paraffin) procedures. By Western blot PA1-959 is specific for the ~30 kDa VDAC3 protein.
The PA1-959 immunogen is recombinant, His-tagged VDAC3 protein expressed in E. coli.
Figure 1 illustrates Western blot detection of recombinant VDAC3 protein purified from E. coli using PA1-959. |
The Voltage-Dependant Anion Channel (VDAC) of the outer mitochondrial membrane, a small abundant protein found in all eukaryotic kingdoms, forms a voltage-gated pore when incorporated into planar lipid bilayers. VDAC is also the site of binding of the metabolic enzymes hexokinase and glycerol kinase to the mitochondrion in what may be a significant metabolic regulatory interaction. VDAC3 is involved specifically in translocation of adenine nucleotides through the outer membrane. |
