Product Specific Information
PA1-21014 detects eNOS in human, mouse, rat, bovine, canine, and porcine samples. PA1-21014 has been successfully used in immunohistochemistry (paraffin) procedures. Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires boiling tissue sections in 10 mM citrate buffer, ph 6.0, for 10 minutes followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes. The PA1-21014 immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to the C-terminal domain of human eNOS. Figure 1 illustrates immunohistochemical staining of eNOS in paraffin embedded human placental tissue using PA1-21014.
General Information
NOS oxidizes a guanidine nitrogen of arginine releasing nitric oxide in the form of a free radical and citrulline. Nitric oxide thus generated acts as a messenger in diverse functions including vasodilation neurotransmission, anti-tumor and anti-pathogenic activities. NOS is classified under three types: neuronal NOS (nNOS) or brain NOS (bNOS); induciblr NOS (iNOS) or macrophage NOS (mNOS); and endothelial NOS (eNOS).
