Product Specific Information
PA1-16955 detects LOX protein in human, rat, cow, pig and mouse samples. 92% sequence idenity with chicken, zebrafish, and Xenopus proteins.

PA1-16955 has been successfully used in Western blot procedures. PA1-16955 is specific for the ~58 kDa LOX protein. This is a highly glycosylated protein and therefore, other bands may be seen at ~32 kDa (non-glycosylated form) 50 kDa and 58 kDa (glycosylated forms).

PA1-16955 immunogen is a cocktail of two synthetic peptides between amino acids 300-400 and amino acids 200-300 of the human LOX protein.

Figure 1 shows a Western blot of mouse kidney lysate showing specific labeling of the ~58 kDa LOX protein.
General Information
Lysyl oxidase (LOX), a copper-containing amine oxidase, belongs to a heterogeneous family of enzymes that oxidize primary amine substrates to reactive aldehydes. It plays a vital role in the formation and repair of the extra cellular matrix. As well, LOX is a multifunctional enzyme having diverse biological functions such as developmental regulation, tumor suppression, cell motility and cellular senescence. The secreted form of LOX is responsible for the invasive properties of hypoxic human cancer cells. Thus, it is essential for hypoxia-induced metastasis and is a good therapeutic target for preventing and treating metastases.
