Product Specific Information
PA1-16925 detects DAF-3 protein in C. elegans samples. PA1-16925 has been successfully used in Western blot and immunoprecipitation procedures. PA1-16925 is specific for the ~91 kDa DAF-3 protein. PA1-16925 immunogen is a synthetic peptide between amino acids 700-796 of the C.elegans DAF-3 protein. Figure 1 shows a Western blot of wt c.elegans lysate showing specific labeling of the ~91 kDa DAF-3 protein.
General Information
Signals from TGF-beta superfamily receptors are transduced to the nucleus by Smad proteins, which transcriptionally activate target genes. In Caenorhabditis elegans (C.elegans), defects in a TGF-beta-related pathway cause a reversible developmental arrest and metabolic shift at the dauer larval stage. DAF-3 transgenes interfere with dauer formation, playing a role in the nucleus. DAF-3 is unique in that it is antagonized, rather than activated, by a TGF-beta pathway.
